What city is full of extraordinary, affordable museums?

Our organized tours usually leave for New York on a Friday. That day, UNIQLO (a clothing store) foots the bill for entrance to the MOMA, the first modern art museum to open in the world: it’s free from 4 to 8 pm.  Andy Warhol and Pop Art take the spotlight, as do many impressionist painters. Also on Fridays, from 7 to 9 pm, you can visit the financier Pierpont Morgan’s magnificent library and museum in the Murray Hill neighbourhood free-of-charge. Even the famous Metropolitan Museum of Art, in Central Park, will surprise you – although they recommend paying $25 to enter, you can pay what you want when you visit on a weekday.  A short walk from the Met, the Frick Collection allows you to discover one of the most beautiful private collections in the United States, and Sundays between 11 am and 1 pm, entrance is pay-what-you-can.  Finally, don’t miss the National Museum of the American Indian, at the southern point of Manhattan, free to visit as it’s part of the Smithsonian Institution.
